Child Protection

The University of St Andrews Archery Club (Saints Archery) recognises the right young people have to enjoy
sport in a safe, friendly and fun environment that gives them the opportunity to excel. We take
very seriously the protection of young people in sport and we adhere to the guidance on providing a
safe environment for young people as published by Scottish Student Sport (SSS) and
sportscotland. These guidelines can be accessed and downloaded here (select Child Protection
Policy): http://www.susport.org.uk/policies.asp

As an archery club active in Scotland, we also consider it appropriate that our members are
aware of the Child Protection Policy of the Scottish Archery Association (SAA) and actively promote
the good practice listed within. The SAA Child Protection Policy can be accessed here: http://www.scottisharchery.org.uk/cppolicy.php

In addition to the above guidelines the “Policy for Safeguarding Children, Young People and
Vulnerable Adults”(2009) as published by ArcheryGB (GNAS) should be considered. It is noted that
this does not strictly apply to Scottish clubs due to differences in legislation (Section 1.0) however
the information contained in the policy is appropriate and helpful for all clubs who, like us, are
committed to the protection of young people in archery. In particular Sections 1.2, 2.0-2.3 (incl.),
2.5, 2.6 and all Section 6 should be relevant to all club members. This policy can be accessed here: http://www.archerygb.org/2301.php
